VGM Education provides continuing education for healthcare professionals through online learning, webinars, regional roadshows, and its annual event, the Heartland Conference. It’s the educational arm of VGM Group - covering current topics such as Ebola treatment and control, Medicare billing, rehabilitation issues, and HIPAA. In short, VGM Education offers over 300 online courses relating to services provided by the HME industry.

The Challenge

Sara Laures, Vice President of VGM Education, recognizes the bumps in the road when it came to interviewing, hiring, and retaining. “It’s a lot of pressure for just one person,” says Loures, reflecting on VGM’s previous hiring process.  VGM Education receives up to several hundred applications for each open position. Going through all the applications without really knowing if an individual’s resume was an accurate reflection of their personality, working style, or how they’d fit in meant a lot of time spent with the wrong candidates – leading to wasted funds on the wrong people.

The Solution

Laures decided to pilot Wonderlic’s solutions by implementing a process where every candidate took Wonderlic’s personality assessment as part of their application.

The Results

“Wonderlic saved us so much time we decided to keep using it,” Laures says.“ Hiring the wrong person is more costly to the company than we can measure. Wonderlic has allowed us to really pinpoint the person who is our best fit. I was sold.” Using the assessment platform, Sara is able to sort and filter candidates, focusing on the areas that are the most meaningful for each position.  VGM Education was so impressed that they felt confident in introducing Wonderlic to their own customers.  “After new hires are on board and we get to know them, we can see that the scoring is true to how they are,” Laures says. “It’s been a real success for us and our clients.
